The Challenge
As the Senior Product UX/UI Designer at CollabWorks, I led a team working on an Activity-Based-Costing solution. The system analyzed employee work through 10 complex modules, each requiring on-site guidance from HR professionals to complete multiple steps. Our challenge was to simplify this process.
The Goal
We needed to make each module intuitive enough for teams to operate independently with minimal training, eliminating the need for constant professional oversight.
The Approach
We conducted an in-depth heuristic evaluation of all modules, revealing shared structures and data types while identifying inconsistent terminology. Through iterative redesign, we refined all ten modules using cycles of design, prototyping, and user testing. We also optimized the system's calculations to complement the improved user experience.
The Results
Our redesign created a cohesive, user-friendly solution. Teams could now operate the tool independently after just 30 minutes of training, gaining valuable insights into their productivity. The impact was significant—a 24-person technology team at a Fortune 100 company increased their annual value by $1 million, demonstrating the tool's effectiveness.
